Mountain biking

You don’t have to go far for some mountain bike adventures when you stay at New Galloway Holiday Cottages. So if you prefer to explore on two-wheels, bring your bike along. Don’t worry – secure bike storage is provided.

Head west out of New Galloway past the golf course on the road along Loch Ken. After a few miles you’ll see The Raiders’ Road on the right (just before you get to Mossdale). There are a few different routes you can do around there.

If you’ve got young children with you, there’s a nice little three mile loop. It goes up past the Secret Cages, then left and down past Stroan Loch (a nice picnic spot). Then follow the track back to your starting point.

If you want to go a bit further, you can follow The Raiders’ Road all the way to the Queen’s Way. After you go past Otter Pool, you’ll come out on the road. Turn right and head past Clatteringshaws Loch (which has a lovely little cafe and some toilets) back to New Galloway. This route in total is about 15 miles.

If you hop in your car there’s more to choose from.
