You can simply step out of Stroan and Skerrow and head off on some beautiful walks straight from your doorstep. Turn right and head up the High Street, past the Golf Course into the woods. There’s lots of routes to choose from – all of them offering spectacular views across Loch Ken and beyond.

Take a short circular stroll just around the woods, or go a little further and branch off the path down to Kenmure Castle where you can explore the ruins, or carry on further and you’ll get to Bennan Viewpoint and the Raiders’ Road. Please do ask in the shop if you need help planning your route. Or have a look at New Galloway Town Hall’s website to see more information about local walks in the golf club forst and up at Garroch.

If you want to venture further afield, here are some more walking routes to explore in The Galloway Forest Park.
