Water sports & activities

New Galloway is situated on the banks of Loch Ken, so there is an abundance of water-based and land activities waiting for you.

Activities

Fancy sailing, windsurfing, SUP or kayaking? What about giving the Wobbly Waterpark a go? Or maybe laser tag, archery, climbing or soaring through the air on a zip wire’s your thing. Head to the Galloway Activity Centre where you can do all of this and more. (There’s a cafe too).

Fishing

Fishing is allowed on Loch Ken, and you can purchase your fishing licence at both the village shop and Post Office.

Wild swimming

Loch Ken and Loch Stroan are both fantastic for a spot of wild swimming. You can access Loch Ken from any of the lay-bys situated along the New Galloway to Mossdale road (A712). It is popular with fishing enthusiasts too, so simply carry on to the next lay-by if someone is already fishing there. There’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the loch.

Access to Loch Stroan is via The Raiders’ Road further along the A712. Just before you get to Mossdale, on your right.
